Breezing through the crisp air
Hopping its feet from one heart to another
Sugar-coated the words that came out of his mouth
Suddenly I was an over-sugared toddler
Bright and chirpy like a hummingbird
Soon the man ignited the fuse
From a spark turned to a fire
My love boiled beneath my skin and slowly softened my bones
//
The man left like a drizzle on the first day of summer
Needed but gone too soon
It became a steady thrum of rain on the window
The love shifted to simmer
Turned the untranslated feelings into vapour
The season was not friendly
Amidst the heat my fingertips froze
But as the cold pierced through my veins
I clasped my sadness near
Swiftly fell asleep on its arms
